The price of a project depends on:

• the time required for creation

• the rights granted, which are precisely defined in the agreement

1 / Hand-painted oil illustration fee

The illustration fee includes the time and art materials required to create your custom illustration, as well as:

• email exchanges

• preparation of the quotation

• creation of a certificate of authenticity

• shipment of the original artwork by tracked and signed Colissimo within Europe

• invoicing

An additional fee applies to deliveries outside the European Union.

Any customs duties, taxes or import fees imposed by the authorities in the client's country are the client's responsibility.

Any additional taxes, customs duties or import fees resulting from the regulations of the destination country are the buyer's responsibility.

2 / Digital file fee — +€150

Once the illustration has been completed, it is professionally photographed, retouched and cleaned using Photoshop.

It is then converted into a high-resolution digital file, which is delivered to you by email and ready for professional use.

3 / Copyright licensing fee

A copyright licence in illustration is the permission granted by the artist to a client to use an artwork within a specific framework.

It defines how, where and for how long the illustration may be used (website, book, poster, publication, product, etc.).

The artist remains the author of the work and retains all rights that have not been expressly licensed. The licence is generally limited by its duration, territory and permitted uses. It is formalized in a written agreement in order to protect both the artist and the client.

🔹 1. Internal use — non-exclusive

Hospital / medical practice / internal training: €200

The illustration may be used solely for the internal professional activities of your organization: PowerPoint presentations, internal training, internal booklets, display within the premises, documents intended for staff, etc.

It is not intended for public distribution or for commercial or promotional purposes.

→ Digitization: €150
→ Internal-use licence: €200
→ Total: €700

🔹 2. Editorial publication — non-exclusive

Book / medical journal: €300

The illustration may be reproduced in a book, journal, article or editorial publication, particularly in the medical and scientific fields.

The licence specifies the relevant media, territory and duration of use.

Example:

→ Creation of a 60 × 80 cm oil painting on canvas: €900
→ Digitization: €150
→ Editorial licence: €300
→ Total: €1,350

🔹 3. Book cover — non-exclusive

€300 + royalties

This licence allows the illustration to be used as the cover or main visual of a book, DVD or CD.

The permitted use is specifically defined in the licensing agreement and may be limited to a particular edition, duration or territory.

Example:

→ Creation of a 30 × 40 cm illustration: €350
→ Digitization: €150
→ Editorial licence fee: €300
→ Royalties: +2% of the net sales revenue generated from the book using the illustration
→ Total: €800 + royalties

Example of royalties:

Book sold at €30 excluding VAT × 500 copies = €15,000 in net sales revenue
2% royalties = €300

🔹 4. Commercial / promotional use — non-exclusive

For example, commercializing products featuring a reproduction of the illustration: bags, mouse pads, textiles, etc.

The illustration may be used to promote or commercialize a product or service: printed objects, merchandise, advertising materials, commercial communications, packaging, online stores, etc.

Because this type of exploitation has greater commercial potential, the licensing terms are adapted to the intended use.

Example:

→ Creation of a 30 × 40 cm illustration: €350
→ Digitization: €150
→ Commercial licence fee: €300
→ Royalties: +5% of the net sales revenue generated from products featuring the illustration
→ Total: €800 + royalties

Example:

Product sold at €30 excluding VAT × 500 units = €15,000 in net sales revenue
5% royalties = €750

🔒 EXCLUSIVITY

By default, a custom illustration is licensed according to the uses defined in your order, but this does not automatically grant you exclusive rights to the artwork.

If you would like the illustration created for you to be exclusive, an exclusivity option can be added to your order for an additional fee.

Exclusivity means that, for the duration, territory and uses defined in the agreement, I undertake not to grant another client the same exploitation rights for that illustration.

In accordance with French law, purchasing an illustration or an original artwork does not automatically transfer copyright. Economic rights, including the rights of reproduction and representation, must be expressly and precisely licensed in writing, specifying in particular their scope, purpose, territory and duration.

Exclusivity does not mean that I relinquish my copyright in the artwork. I remain the author of the illustration and retain my moral rights, as well as any rights that have not been expressly licensed.

Unless otherwise agreed in the contract, I also retain the right to present the artwork in my portfolio, on my website and on my social media accounts in order to showcase my work.

The exclusivity granted to the client does not prevent the artist from retaining, where expressly provided for in the agreement, the right to create and sell fine art prints of the artwork herself. These prints remain separate from the exclusive exploitation rights granted to the client.

Each copyright licence is therefore defined on a case-by-case basis in the quotation or licensing agreement, so that you know precisely what you may use, where, for how long and with what level of exclusivity.
